Bültmann GmbH wins European Business Award for the Environment

On June 2, 2010 the Bültmann company and the co-operation partner Zenergy Power in Rheinbach were announced as being one of the winners of the European Business Awards for the Environment 2010. The EU Environment Commissioner Janez Potočnik presented the price at an awards ceremony in Brussels.

Bültmann and Zenergy Power were granted the award in the category Process Award for companies that have developed a new product or service that makes an outstanding contribution for sustainable development. The prizewinning project is the magnetic billet heater, the worldwide first application of superconductor technology that allows a significant increase in energy efficiency in one of the most power-intensive processes in metals manufacturing with a substantial reduction in CO2 emissions.

The European Business Award for the Environment (EBAE) was implemented in 1987 to approve and encourage the achievements of companies, which lead the way in developing ecologically friendly procedures and products. The EBAE is granted in four categories: management, products, processes and international co-operation, contributing to the economic and social development without environmental damage.

„The more we are aware of the real and inherent value of our environment, the more effectively we will combine economic, social and environmental goals. The companies involved in the European Business Awards for the Environment are a key element in this – demonstrating clearly their innovative abilities and the economic sense of applying eco-technologies and processes“, said the EU Environmental Commissioner Janez Potočnik.
